THE EASTER FESTIVAL was a great success despite unfavorable weather conditions. In 5 hours, we fundraised: $700.00 in donations, $200.00 vendor, $1281 kitchen, $1010 Baked goods, $2522 Paskas/Bread, $310.00 Frozen pyrohy, $230.00 Tag Sale, $280.00 Cultural, donations for Ukraine $400.00. Many thanks to all who participated and donated to this important fundraiser. Great job, everyone!!!

ПАСХАЛЬНИЙ ФЕСТИВАЛЬ мав великий успіх незважаючи на несприятливу погоду. За 5 годин ми заробили: $700.00 пожертвами, $200.00 від вендорів, $1281 на кухні, $1010 на солодощах, $2522 паски/хліб, $310.00 на морожених варениках, $230.00 tag sale, $280.00 на столі культури, пожертви для України $400.00. ARTOS is a leavened bread blessed at the end of the services on Easter Sunday in the Orthodox Church. The significance of the Artos is that it serves to remind all Christians of the events connected with the Resurrection of Christ. After His Resurrection, the Lord appeared to His disciples more than once, ate before them, and blessed their meals. After the Lord ascended to Heaven, His disciples and other followers often met for common prayer and partaking in Christ’s Body and Blood. When they sat down to an ordinary meal (Agape) after the prayer services, they would leave a place at the head of the table empty for the invisibly present Lord and lay a loaf of leavened bread (Artos) on that place. It is customary to keep a portion of the Artos throughout the year and partake of it in times of illness or distress with a drink of Holy Water.

“Pennies from Heaven”—All Church School students are reminded to bring their “Pennies from Heaven” to Divine Liturgy next Sunday, April 27. We will give them to Fr. Andrii at the end of the service. Thank you for your support of this project.

Happy birthday to Peter, who is celebrating his birthday today, and to Anna, who will celebrate hers tomorrow.

Congratulations to Mark, who will observe his patron saint’s day, St. Mark the Evangelist, on April 25.

Looking Ahead – June 1—Last Church School class/Bowling event: Bowling will be held at Lessard Lanes in Plainville from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. immediately following classes. Information regarding this event will be mailed out after Pascha. Once received, please be sure to RSVP to chairperson Helen Zeleniuk as soon as possible. Head counts and food choices will be needed.
