OUR CHURCH Easter Festival is scheduled for this Saturday, March 28. Please plan ahead and help with preparations. We will be baking paska-breads on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March 24, 25, and 26 at 10 AM, and cooking on Friday, March 27 at 5 pm. Pyrohy available for purchase – $12/dozen.

CONFESSION: Father Andrii is available to hear Confessions before or after any of the Lenten services or before Divine Liturgy. Please arrive early on Sunday morning for Confession so this won’t interfere with the beginning of the Divine Liturgy. PLEASE NOTE – Parishioners who receive Communion every Sunday must come to Confession regularly but not less than 4 times a year (Great Lent, Fast of the Apostles, Dormition Fast, and Nativity Fast). In order to be in good standing with the Church, all Orthodox Christians need to go to Confession and receive Communion at least once a year; Great Lent is the best time to fulfill this spiritual requirement. All parishioners who receive Communion should fast (no food or drink) from midnight until the point of receiving Communion. The night before, it is customary to read special prayers before Holy Communion. If someone has a medical condition and has to take the medication in the morning, they can be released from fasting with a blessing from the priest. Children under the age of seven are also released from fasting. However, their parents are encouraged to let them try.

СПОВІДЬ: Отець Андрій може вислухати вашу Сповідь до або після будь-якого з Великопосних богослужінь або перед Божественною Літургією. Будь ласка, приходьте раніше в неділю на Сповідь, щоб це не завадило початку Божественної Літургії. ЗАУВАЖТЕ, що парафіяни, які причащаються щонеділі, повинні приходити до Сповіді регулярно, але не менше чотирьох разів на рік (Великий піст, Піст Апостолів, Успенський піст, Різдвяний піст). Всі православні християни повинні посповідатися і причаститися хоча б раз на рік, щоб бути в духовній єдності з Церквою. Великий піст є найкращим часом для виконання цієї духовної вимоги. Всі парафіяни, які приймають Причастя, повинні постити (не їсти та не пити) з опівночі до моменту прийняття Причастя. Напередодні ввечері прийнято читати особливі молитви перед Святим Причастям (див. Молитовник). Якщо хтось має захворювання і змушений приймати ліки вранці, їх можуть звільнити від посту з благословення священика. Дітей віком до семи років також звільняють від євхаристичного посту. Однак, батьки можуть дозволити їм спробувати.

LENTEN MISSION: Parishioners will have an opportunity to go to confession with visiting priests on Saturday, April 4, starting at 9:00 AM, with Liturgy beginning at 10 AM. Please mark the date on your calendars. Remember, it is our Christian obligation to confess at least once a year.

CEMETERY Christmas Decorations and spring cleanup: Please remove all Christmas arrangements by March 31. If not removed, they will be removed by the cemetery committee. Please clean up dry and overgrown vegetation around headstones. Any unmaintained headstones will be cleaned at the cemetery committee’s discretion. 

CEMETERY water: Overnight temperatures pending, the plan is to turn the water on mid to late April, pending a repair to the water system. Thank you.

TODAY – Classes will be held.

Confession Schedule:  All Orthodox Christians are expected to go to Confession during Great Lent.  The following is the schedule for the Church School students and teachers and the Youth Ministry: March 22 – Grades 4 and 5, March 29 – Grades 6,7,8, teens and young adults. Lenten Confession is required to receive Communion on Pascha.

“Pennies from Heaven” – Each year, our Church School students participate in a Lenten almsgiving activity, “Pennies from Heaven”.  This year’s recipient will be the Maple Leaf House, a charity home in the small village of Stoyaiv in the Lviv region.  It is a caring home for girls ages 6-18.  Some of them are orphans.  Some have parents who cannot take care of them because of alcohol or drug problems, or have been physically abused.  Please see any Church School student to make a donation. This activity will continue through April 19.  We are blessed to have an anonymous donor matching the children’s collection this year.
