PLEASE HELP a charitable organization called the City of Goodness. It’s an organization and a place in Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region, only 30 miles from the Romanian border. Ill-treated women with children, orphans, and children sick with debilitating diseases are finding their shelter and support there. Their representative will be with us on Sunday, June 30, for a short presentation and to answer any questions. Please see Fr. Andrii for more information. Our children have raised $1070 for them already through the Pennies for Heaven fundraiser. ONE PRIEST told those who did not go to church on Sunday a story… One day, a rich man met a beggar as he was walking to the city hall. They struck up a conversation as they started to walk together in the same direction. The poor guy told him about his miseries. The rich man had mercy on him, and from the seven coins he had, he gave him two. After the beggar talked about his other misfortunes, mainly his bad health, he received two more coins from the rich man. Approaching the city hall, they decided to sit down on a park bench. The rich man shared his food with his companion and, hearing the next story of his life, gave away two more coins. Yes, he has been merciful! However, after receiving six coins, this beggar, instead of gratitude, suddenly pulled out a knife from his pocket, and demanded the seventh coin. “What an ingratitude! What a disgrace! The bagger has to be punished! He is a criminal!” – yelled his listeners. “Then you deserve punishment, too” – the priest replied. “You are those ungrateful beggars. God gave you six days and set aside one for Himself. And you keep stealing this day from Him.
ОДИН СВЯЩЕНИК розповів тим, хто не ходив до церкви в неділю, історію… Одного разу багатий чоловік зустрів жебрака, коли той йшов до міської ради. Між ними зав’язалася розмова, коли вони почали йти разом в одному напрямку. Бідолаха розповів йому про свої нещастя. Багач змилосердився над ним і з семи монет, що в нього були, дав йому дві. Після того, як жебрак розповів про інші свої нещастя, в основному про погане здоров’я, він отримав від багача ще дві монети. Підійшовши до мерії, вони вирішили сісти на лавочку в парку. Багач поділився їжею зі своїм супутником і, почувши чергову історію жебрачого життя, віддав ще дві монети. Так, він був милосердним! Однак, отримавши шість монет, цей жебрак замість подяки раптом витягнув з кишені ніж, і зажадав сьому монету. — Яка невдячність! Яка ганьба! Жебрак має бути покараний! Він злочинець!” – кричали його слухачі. “Тоді і ви заслуговуєте покарання”, – відповів священик. Ви ті невдячні жебраки. Бог дав вам шість днів і один виділив для Себе. А ви продовжуєте красти в Нього цей день.
