CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING: The regular monthly meeting will be held next Sunday, March 31, during “Coffee and…” in the parish hall. Council members are requested to make every effort to attend the meeting.
EASTER FESTIVAL was a success despite the rainy weather—many thanks to those who helped with its organization, preparation, and successful execution. The final numbers are still being calculated.

UOL: Starting April 1st, for a month, the UOL will be collecting dish detergent, laundry detergent, and shampoo & conditioner for Prudence Crandell Center! Prudence Crandell Services serves Victims of Domestic Violence. This is our first outreach for the needy in our community during this Great Lenten period. Thank you for your support.
CONFESSION: Father Andrii is available to hear Confessions before or after any of the Lenten services or before Divine Liturgy. Please arrive early on Sunday morning for Confession so this won’t interfere with the beginning of the Divine Liturgy. PLEASE NOTE – Parishioners who receive Communion every Sunday must come to Confession regularly but not less than 4 times a year (Great Lent, Fast of the Apostles, Dormition Fast, and Nativity Fast). In order to be in good standing with the Church, all Orthodox Christians need to go to Confession and receive Communion at least once a year; Great Lent is the best time to fulfill this spiritual requirement. All parishioners who receive Communion should fast (no food or drink) from midnight until the point of receiving Communion. The night before, it is customary to read special prayers before Holy Communion. If someone has a medical condition and has to take the medication in the morning, they can be released from fasting with a blessing from the priest. Children under the age of seven are also released from fasting. However, their parents are encouraged to let them try.
СПОВІДЬ: Отець Андрій може вислухати вашу Сповідь до або після будь-якого з Великопосних богослужінь або перед Божественною Літургією. Будь ласка, приходьте раніше в неділю на Сповідь, щоб це не завадило початку Божественної Літургії. ЗАУВАЖТЕ, що парафіяни, які причащаються щонеділі, повинні приходити до Сповіді регулярно, але не менше чотирьох разів на рік (Великий піст, Піст Апостолів, Успенський піст, Різдвяний піст). Всі православні християни повинні посповідатись і причаститись хоча б раз на рік, щоб бути в духовній єдності з Церквою. Великий піст є найкращим часом для виконання цієї духовної вимоги. Всі парафіяни, які приймають Причастя, повинні постити (не їсти та не пити) з опівночі до моменту прийняття Причастя. Напередодні ввечері прийнято читати особливі молитви перед Святим Причастям (див. Молитовник). Якщо хтось має захворювання і змушений приймати ліки вранці, їх можуть звільнити від посту з благословення священика. Дітей віком до семи років також звільняють від євхаристичного посту. Однак, батьки можуть дозволити їм спробувати.
ЗАГАЛЬНІ ПОЛОЖЕННЯ про споживання їжі під час Великого посту: Категорії продуктів харчування – Категорія I: М’ясо та м’ясні продукти (включає яловичину, свинину, курятину тощо, а також продукти, які містять тваринний желатин, жири тощо); Категорія II: молочні продукти (включає вершкове масло, яйця, молоко, сир тощо, а також продукти, що містять молочну сироватку, молочні екстракти тощо); Категорія III: риба, але не кальмари, креветки, краби, устриці, молюски, мідії тощо; Категорія IV: Оливкова олія (на думку деяких, це поширюється на всі олії) і вино (яке включає всі алкогольні напої) Продукти, дозволені протягом усього Великого посту: молюски (такі як кальмари, креветки, краби, устриці, молюски, мідії тощо), овочі та овочеві продукти (включаючи зернові [рис, пшениця, борошно, макарони {макарони без яєць] тощо], рослинні желатини тощо), фрукти та горіхи. Будні дні під час Великого посту: утримання категорій I, II, III та IV. Можна споживати молюски, фрукти, овочі і горіхи. У цей період ми повинні регулювати кількість споживаної їжі та частоту прийому їжі. Між прийомами їжі не можна їсти, а під час споживання слід з’їдати меншу кількість, ніж зазвичай. У суботу та неділю під час Великого посту (*крім Великої суботи, в яку дотримується суворий піст) утримання від категорій I, II та III. Дозволяється IV категорія. Кількість і частота прийому їжі в суботу та неділю під час Великого посту не обмежуються. Свято Благовіщення (25 березня) і Вербна неділя – утримання І, ІІ категорій. Кількість і частота трапез у ці великі церковні свята не обмежені.

LET IT BE LIGHT project to improve lighting in our temple needs your help! Our church lights (recess lights in the sealing) are old, energy-consuming, and pose a fire hazard due to overheating. Recently, we received a quote from an electrician who can upgrade them for $1,800. Please donate! Fr. Andrii can answer any questions.

Many thanks to the Youth Ministry for a wonderful Pre-Lenten party for our children last Sunday. Eighteen children attended and had a great time. YM director Sarah Bailly was assisted by several parents and young adults. It was a happy time for all.
The Church School’s annual Lenten alms-giving program, “Pennies from Heaven” began last Sunday and will continue until May 12. This year, your donations will go to Butterfly House, a Children’s Medical Center in Ukraine, which is a rehabilitation center for children, mainly orphans, and a hospice for terminally ill children. Please give your generous gift to any of our students. Thank you.
