СЛАВА ІСУСУ ХРИСТУ! СЛАВА НА ВІКИ! GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST! GLORY NOW AND EVER!
APOSTLE FAST begins tomorrow and continues till Thursday, June 29. Let’s spend this sacred time of the Church year in humble fasting, intense prayer life, and performing works of Christian charity. This is also a suitable time to go to Confession for those, who receive Holy Communion regularly.
INDEPENDENCE DAY EXTRAVAGANZA is being planned in our parish this coming Saturday, June 17 (rainy day June 24). A list of needed ingredients is posted in the kitchen. Monetary donations are also needed and will be greatly appreciated. Please, consider bringing newer items in good condition that can be sold at a tag sale that day. Small kitchen appliances, dish sets, home décor, fishing, and sporting gear, and children’s toys/games are good sellers. NO clothes or shoes. Items need to be brought to the hall by Thursday, June 15. Half of the proceeds will go to support Ukraine’s war efforts. Volunteers are needed to sort, organize, cook, and conduct this event! WE NEED TENTS, propane TANKS, and homemade DESSERTS. Please, contact Natalia Kyrychenko for more details. Prep work Friday at 5 PM.
SISTERHOOD is looking for sponsors for a professional-grade food processor for our church kitchen. The cost is $690. If you can, please help! Please, see Natalia Kyrychenko or Anne Bailly with your donations.
CAN ORTHODOX Christians celebrate a “Pride” month? In short, NO… According to Orthodox teaching “pride” is the source of all sins. Pride is selfish, disobedient, and self-righteous. No wonder the first person to exercise pride was the devil, who, being the closest angel to God, rebelled against his Creator. So, questions we should ask ourselves during this month are: What are we really celebrating? Should we, Christians, teach our children that pride is good and needs to be celebrated every year in June? Is pride, not a sin anymore? Is sexual immorality ok now?.. As Orthodox Christians, we should counter the celebrated vice of pride with often-scorned virtues of humility and true love… If we love our neighbors as ourselves, we will try to do what is best for them. Can there be anything better than Heaven and eternal life with our Loving Creator? Of cause, not! So, we should humbly remind ourselves and those, who are involved in certain lifestyles that: “… neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God.” (1 Cor. 6, 9-10) It is out of Christian charity that we should pray during this month of “pride”, that all God’s children may “be saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth” (1 Tim. 2, 4). It’s out of our Christian duty that we have to remember the words of St. Paul: “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret… Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” (Eph. 5, 11-17)
CEMETERY Committee thanks Urszula Korycinski for her generous $20 donation toward the beautification and upkeep of the cemetery. God Bless you.***Please be aware that Craig Czaja will start repairing headstones. Unfortunately, there are many that are tilting and unstable on their foundations. This will be an ongoing project.

+ + + CHURCH SCHOOL AND YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS + + +
TODAY we celebrate the graduation of our eighth-grade students, Clara Michelle Duffy and Natalie Ann Szwez. These two dedicated students have shown great interest in the Orthodox faith, participating in their classes with much enthusiasm. We know they will continue to be an asset to our parish.
TODAY we will also present attendance awards to the students in each class. Although the awards go to the children, we also recognize the commitment of their parents to the Church School program.
Happy birthday to Karina who will be celebrating her birthday in the coming week. May God grant Clara, Natalie, Karina, and our awards recipients MANY BLESSED YEARS! MNOHAYA LITA!
NEXT SUNDAY, JUNE 18 – FATHER’S DAY- The Youth Ministry invites our parish family to enjoy apple pie and ice cream during the coffee hour in honor of the men of our parish. We will also be serving “Coffee and…” that morning so we ask our students to help set up before Liturgy and to serve and clean up afterward.
We would like to list all graduations (high school and above) and special awards (academic, sports, and extra-curricular) in our June 18 bulletin. Please give that information to Cynthia Sirick in writing by June 14 (czsirick@gmail.com).
Today marks the end of the 2022-23 Church School year. Our loving thanks go to Fr. Andrii, our teachers, substitute teachers, aides, children, parents, volunteers, donors, council members, parishioners, and all who have made our children’s religious education a priority. May God grant you MANY BLESSED YEARS! MNOHAYA LITA! Wishing all a happy and safe summer…
