AID for UKRAINE: we collected $4,951 this week. The money is being used to buy medical supplies for Ukraine’s wounded and refugees. We are coordinating our efforts with the nonprofit organization Maidan United, please continue to donate! Thank you to an anonymous donor for their $1,000 donation, the P. family for their $1,000 donation, to the Greek HEPA organization for their $700 donation, and to the South Church of New Britain for their $500 donation. PASCHA BREAD BAKING is being planned for Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, only to fill orders. We will have large round raisin paschas for $9.00 and small round raisin for $5.00. Please place your orders on the sign-up sheet downstairs. Please, mark your calendars and come help. We will have shifts both in the AM and PM. Donations to cover the cost of ingredients are welcome!

*** A Reminder: According to our Parish Constitution, Council members must receive Sacraments of Confession and Communion before oath of office is administered.  

GENERAL REGULATIONS on physical fasting during Great Lent: Categories of Foods – Category I: Meat and Meat Products (includes beef, pork, chicken, etc., as well as items which have animal gelatin, lard, etc.); Category II: Dairy Products (includes butter, eggs, milk, cheese, etc., as well as items containing dairy whey, milk extracts, etc.); Category III: Fish, but not shell fish such as lobster, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, clams, mussels, etc.); Category IV: Olive Oil (according to some, this would extend to all oils) and Wine (which includes all alcoholic beverages) Foods Permitted throughout Lent: Shellfish (such as lobster, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, clams, mussels, etc.), Vegetables and Vegetable products (including grains [rice, wheat, flour, pasta {non-egg pasta}, etc.] vegetable gelatins, etc.), fruits and nuts. Weekdays during Lent: Abstinence of Categories I, II, III, & IV. No Abstinence of shellfish, fruit, vegetables and nuts. During this period, we should regulate both the amount of food we consume, as well as the frequency of eating. No food should be eaten between meals, and at mealtime’s smaller quantities than normal should be eaten. Saturdays and Sundays during Lent (*except Great Saturday on which a strict fast is kept) abstinence of Categories I, II & III. No abstinence of Category IV. On Saturdays and Sundays during the Great Fast, the quantity and frequency of meals is not restricted. Feast of the Annunciation (March 25) and Palm Sunday – Abstinence of Categories I, II. On these Great Feasts of the Church, the quantity and frequency of meals is not restricted.

Donations of coffee, individual creamers, butter and monetary donations are always welcomed. Thank you for your continuous support for the Scholarship Committee!
