Those who arrive after the reading of the Holy Gospel, SHOULD NOT!!! approach the Holy Communion! If you are not there to hear the Word of God, you cannot receive Him in Communion! THE LIGHTING of candles in the Orthodox Church is a very ancient, pious tradition that has been observed for thousands of years. However, there are specific times during services (especially Divine Liturgy) when this tradition should be practiced. Please, light your candles prior to the reading of the Apostle, in order to avoid unnecessary distractions and commotion. Otherwise, you can do it at the end of the services. ЗАПАЛЕННЯ свічок у Православній Церкві є дуже давньою, благочестивою традицією, що практикується уже 2 тисячі років. Однак, є відповідний час на богослуженні (особливо під час Божественної Літургії), коли це можна робити. Будь ласка, запалюйте свічки до читання Апостола, для того, щоб уникнути непотрібної метушні і безпорядку. В іншому випадку ви можете зробити це наприкінці Літургії.

JOIN OUR Prayer Group. We get together on Sunday morning at 8 AM to read prayers of preparation for receiving Holy Communion. Let’s fill the house of our Heavenly Father with prayers before we welcome His Son in our midst and accept the gift of the Holy Spirit. “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” (Isaiah 56, 7 and Mt. 21, 13)

Classes will be held today. There will be no classes next Sunday, May 10 (Mother’s Day). The final class of the school year will be held on May 17.

Church School Attendance awards will be presented on Sunday, June 7, at the close of Liturgy.
The Youth Ministry invites our parish family for a Mother’s Day treat of strawberry shortcake next Sunday during coffee hour. Help is needed on Saturday, May 9, at 10:00 am in the church hall to prepare the strawberries. More help is needed on the following day, May 10, to set up, serve, and clean up.
The Youth Ministry will be placing flags on the graves of veterans on Saturday, May 23, at 10:00 am at our cemetery on Osgood Ave, weather permitting. Please help to pay homage to those who served to keep us safe. Contact Kim Irvin or Heather Duffy with questions.
Our much-anticipated Youth Ministry bowling event will be held on Sunday, June 7, from 12:30-3:00 pm at Lessard Lanes in Plainville. Invitations have been sent to Church School students, teens, and young adults. Please fill in the tear-off strip at the bottom of the invitation and return it to Helen Zeleniuk as soon as possible, even if you are unable to attend.
