Please arrive early on Sunday morning for Confession so this won\u2019t interfere with the beginning of the Divine Liturgy. PLEASE NOTE &#8211; Parishioners who receive Communion every Sunday must come to Confession regularly but not less than 4 times a year (Great Lent, Fast of the Apostles, Dormition Fast, and Nativity Fast). In order to be in good standing with the Church, all Orthodox Christians need to go to Confession and receive Communion at least once a year; Great Lent is the best time to fulfill this spiritual requirement. All parishioners who receive Communion should fast (no food or drink) from midnight until the point of receiving Communion. The night before, it is customary to read special prayers before Holy Communion. If someone has a medical condition and has to take the medication in the morning, they can be released from fasting with a blessing from the priest. Children under the age of seven are also released from fasting. Lenten Confession is required to receive Communion on Pascha.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cPennies from Heaven\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Each year, our Church School students participate in a Lenten almsgiving activity, \u201cPennies from Heaven\u201d.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s recipient will be the Maple Leaf House, a charity home in the small village of Stoyaiv in the Lviv region.\u00a0 It is a caring home for girls ages 6-18.\u00a0 Some of them are orphans.\u00a0 Some have parents who cannot take care of them because of alcohol or drug problems, or have been physically abused.\u00a0 Please see any Church School student to make a donation.
